The ex South Australian Railways 800 class, later inherited by Australian National, gave 35 years of faithful service, mainly on shunt and trip working within the Adelaide metropolitan area. The very last revenue run was made by 801 on Saturday 7 December 1991, seen here with a couple of empty tanks from the Mereenie oil discharge siding at Osborne (track to the right). 801 survived for a period afterwards as workshops shunter at Islington and subsequently found a new home at the National Railway Museum in Port Adelaide.
