Doing what they were originally built for, a pair of Australian National ALCo 600 class head an overnight freight from Adelaide to Broken Hill near Thackaringa on 9 August 1989.
Seven of these model DL541 locos were supplied to original owner, the South Australian Railways, by A E Goodwin for use on the Broken Hill line after it was converted from narrow to standard gauge in 1970.
