Everyone is invited to celebrate 135 years of the Overland.
The passenger train, which runs between Adelaide and Melbourne and stops in Bordertown, will be celebrating 135 years of operation as it makes its journey from Adelaide on Thursday, January 20.
To commemorate the exciting milestone the Bordertown on the Move Committee has planned an event at the Bordertown Train Station.
The Overland will be in Bordertown at about 11am and there will be music playing and flags flying to great the train as it chugs into the station.
When the train first started running in 1887, it was known as the Adelaide Express, then in 1926 it became the Overland.
During its 135 years the Overland received upgrades and changes, originally it was very different to the 2022 version.
It was an overnight train with exquisite Mann Boudoir sleeping cars and deep red livery, that ran daily.
