Does anyone have photos of their own from when the siding was in use?
Awesome pics from you both, thankyou so much. I'd always wanted to see what the siding looked like.
By the way, how long is the siding?
Great pics B67. I wish they still ran that train today. Along with the fuel trains.
I don't think ACI were to happy about Kennett stopping the service. As were many other customers. "Sorry Mr. customer, we don't want business. It's your problem now."

Brian
That last photo the P looks like its on a bit of a lean, was their a bit of a crease when they came up out of the siding? Just looks a bit uneven sitting their.
I have heard P Classes referred to as little XPT's. Maybe tilt train would be a better nick name.

What was the reason for the service being cancelled?
The reason was ~ It was part of V/Line's 1990 plan to rid all their trains from the South Gippsland Line, as thats when regular track work ceased and the track was been run Into the ground

And people wonder why rail is still on the nose with many many customers. Australia big business just doesn't want to be burnt again.

When were your photos taken b67???
When were your photos taken b67???
Not quite sure. I think I wrote the details down at the time, but I've, err, put them in a "safe" place.
I think the second visit (first lot of photos) was shortly before the sand train stopped running. I'll add the date/s to my site once I find out. But about 1996-7 I'd say.
