Heads up for the gunzels out there,

EL56 had a prang with a wagon at Carrington on the 22/6. It's fairly substanial damage, It's basically rooted and you won't be seeing it on a train in a long time.

Cheers for that mate...could you describe the damage for us??

El Zorro was leasing it yeah...if so that will not make CFCLA happy with them yet again.

Greg,

Majority of the damage is to the front fireman's side of the cab, however the front of the loco has substantial damage from what I have seen.

Tim thanks for that mate...at least it only has to go down the road for repairs.

According to Vicsig EL56 is on hire to QRN (could be outdated though). Either way its not the first major accident EL56 has been in either - There was Benalla, also QRN come to think of it.

The damage might be more substantial given its history.

Outdated information. The EL's are very difficult to keep a handle on as to who is hiring which one's at anytime as they do appear to swap and change a fair bit.

EL56 was on hire to El Zorro at time of incident.

Thanks for the clarification Termite.

Personally, I'm just glad it wasn't a preserved unit like C501 in front, I'd hate to see SRHC have to repair a loco after a significant collision.

I was having a yarn to ARTC control this morning and apparently this was the last straw for EL Shonko. To many incidents, not to mention I also heard that CFCLA have said no more toys for you aswell.

those pictures of EL56 what 8203 took are fantastic and good. its been in the wars before when it derailed at Benalla when QRN hired it with ex FA liveried EL58 and now El Zorro hired it then hits a parked grain wagon on the opposite track its lucky yet again for a 2nd time it could have been worse could have been another EL59. if CFCLA say no more locos El zorro would be short on motive power and lose the lease of the ELs,Ts, etc anything else CFCLA has hired to them

In a sane world, hopefully you will never have to justify opinions expressed in an online forum in court.  I don't care if you defame companies and corporations.  If you're wrong, you look like a twunt to a bunch of gunzels.  If you're right, there's no foul.  The world's full of rumours and half truths, a couple more aren't going to hurt.  Lighten up.

Oh yeah, and stop quoting photos to buggery, you guys.  It's unnecessary.

They are near brand new wagons Zorro has decided to smash up there as well  Rolling Eyes

That is two of the new WGSY wagons coupled to a rake of older pairs of WGBY wagons. They picked the newest wagons on the train, but they were coupled at the end of the train. They don't look too badly damaged and shouldn't be long out of service.

"Toddy"

Do PN locos and wagons have some sort of magical force field that stops them from being involved in derailments and shunting collisions?
"bingley hall"
No obviously they don't... PN don't seem to have the amount of accidents as El Zorro do which are caused by human error.. obviously they still have derailments of this nature but most are due to other factors..

It's safe to say the drivers will be looking for a new job after yet again another derailment in Carrington yard..
I will have to keep an eye out to see what El Zorro are running and to check if CFCLA loco's are still being leased.

Cheers Adam

Adam,

I can't safely say I've seen an El Zorro train operating in NSW since the Carrington incident. However, I could be wrong, so would be interested to hear if any have been run since.

Hmm I guess that's one less loco for Freightlink (cough splutter! GWA!) to hire for our AD and DA trains... Gasp we've even had EL's running on the Muckaty manganese ore trains of late (depsite their small fuel tank).

Hopefully there are plenty of good parts to strip out of EL56. The FDL engines are rugged.

Hope we find out what happen. Because going from the pictures it don't look good for El zorro
"motorex"

Not very hard to work out what happened at all.
"42101"

Photos don't reveal exactly what happened - only the outcome of the collision. Could have been any number of reasons, and it might not necessarily be the fault of the crew(s).

No one can assume CFCLA or PN is not going to let EL Zorro lease locos or rollingstock after this incident. How many times has PN for example been involved in Derailments/Collisions?? Im sure alot more than El Zorro.
