33M-1317T-34M - 35M-1318T-36M have entered service, spotted running a Belgrave service on Tuesday night.

Now 7. So if they can get another set in service in July (quite achievable) then they will be back on track for having a new set in service every month from last December.

For the record, my understanding is that we have never been off track! Someone said that we'll be getting one train a month (meaning an average) and some members of the media took that to mean exactly one train every calendar month. I'm not aware of any changes to the schedule - I thought it was going pretty much to plan.

All in the interpretation.

The easiest way to make the Gov/MTM "accountable" and show up any 'late' deliveries would be to take it as exactly one train per calendar month.

Papers get their headlines when there's no new train for the month, Gov gets a pasting and everyone gets paid... Smile

Last week I saw the 3 car 11M-1306T-12M at the viaduct end of Flinders Street Platform 1 being used for some sort of photoshoot. Private function or shooting an ad?

Today I saw 41M-1321T-42M - 43M-1322T-44M run through platform 6 at North Melbourne at around 12:30pm heading towards Newport?
It was in full Metro livery and was nice and shiny.

I caught the 1st series XTrap with the new computer system today (893M/894M and 955M/956M). As well as the previously mentioned hi-res LED displays inside and out, the computer unit underneath the seats in the M car saloon is only 2 seats wide (the old ones was 3 across), and the emergency button panels look to be new - they do not have the Connex brand engraved in them.

These are all identical features to the second series, Also, The smaller computer box majiggy allows them to change the seating arrangement of the original X'trapolis better.

I believe the set you've listed was the first of the Connex' fleet to feature the wheelchair in the Salloon

Saw both sets 10 and 11 (37-40M, 41-44M) out today on the way from Newport to Epping doing test runs.  Still find it strange when I pass a Crapper between Newport and Footscray.   Very Happy They look like a fish out of water along there.

Haha. I find it equally as strange. The horn is very destinctive and gives you sufficient warning to look up and see something blue and white flashing past you as a passenger.

Isn't it nice that - at last - someone in the bureauocracy had a spark of commonsense and realised that we needed more straps to hang onto in our trains. After 30 odd years of inadequate handrails and straps in the Comengs and first series Xtraps, finally- finally- the new Xtraps are fitted with straps through the saloons.

And surprise, surprise - passengers actually move along the carriage now they have something to hang on to and help to keep the doorways clear.

The straps were initially removed because the ferals were using them to kick out the saloon windows.

Yep. And the first time it happens on a nextrap, do ya wanna put money on them being removed again?

The existing staff members all fear this...? I can understand their concern, violent behaviour was rampant when there were staff being reduced at stations, but helping customers out is the new status quo. Smile I say more vertical poles and straps.

You might see a late-night show as a possible by-product ;p?
  heisdeadjim Chief Commissioner

Hehehehe, the first time I walked onto one I was in full uniform as I was going between stations.

"Ooooohhhh, a pole!"

Errrm... nope.  I'm all for helping, but I can assure you that there's a stack of violent behaviour.  Maybe you can go to Boronia or Cranbourne on a Saturday night and hug a station rat.

You know right. Fair call. However, what about seeing it not as a criminal problem but a social one? The local council needs to run a few more programmes.

This does not justify violence. Bottom line is attacks of any kind is not tolerated.

It's been in service for almost three weeks now. Managed to get tagged with texta about two days after being on the job. I guess you can't have anything nice and clean any more in this day and age.

45M-1323T-46M-47M-1324T-48M is being put through its paces now and should be ready very soon.
