Wait, what? Do N cars have Sigma units? I know H cars must as they sound and look the same as the Comeng's, which have Sigma units, but N cars have something different.

Isnt EM100 normally used for that, I wouldn't have thought it was Metro's responsibility

EM100 is used for the Whole Victorian BG network i beleive, this is to be primarly used for the Metro network.

A Metro Harris, that is just awesome! I vote the MTH cars go back to Stony point, push-pulled by Metro's T classes.

What a shame the old greaser set can't be reactivated, it would have looked interesting in that livery - looks a cross between an X'Trapolis and a Siemens. I believe it's the first instance of a Brecknell Willis panto on a Harris too, Metro Vickers were the standard unit of the blue trains, as well as the grey ghosts.

It is ironic in a way though, seeing that not one Hitachi set has been changed out of Connex livery yet, and that Hitachi cars are at least 20 years later.

Champion! thanks mate
yeah i was getting lost with the whole MRS/VFS/MBS so guessing it went from BS 219 to BRS221 no 220?

one other thing the VAC cars 1 & 2 where did they end up?

There was no car 220 under the New Deal numbering scheme. If there had been, it would've probably come from AS 7, which was scrapped in 1972 after a derailment at Werribee in 1970. It would have been BS 220, not a BRS.

VAC cars:
BS 6 --> VAC 1 --> Sleeper 15 --> SS 285 --> BS 218.
BS 5 --> VAC 2 --> Sleeper 16 --> SS 286 --> BS 219.

The only other S car that was scrapped by the New Deal was DS 1 --> CS 2 --> VHN 2. It would've been CS 242.

The S cars used the number blocks BS 201-219, BRS 221-230, VRS 231-233, RS 234, RS 236, OS 237 and CS 241. RS 235 was Avoca, treated as an S car but somewhat older and of a different body profile. Numbers 220, 238-240 and 242-250 were not used, and State Car 5 never recieved a number under the new deal. It probably would've been YS 238, since Royal's R, O, A and L already have meanings in passenger parlance (respectively, Refreshment, Observation, First Class and Long).

ahhh i see! thanks a heap mate great help

AS 7 was not written off as a result of any accident at Werribee .    AS 7 was written off and  BS 7 was badly damaged as a result of a level crossing accident at Weerite on the Warrnambool Line. The Saturday afternoon Up Port fairy Pass had an altercation with a large truck that drove into the side of the train at speed resulting in fire and a derailment  . No train pax were severely injured .

A Road Overpass long ago at Weerite replaced the aforesaid level crossing .

FN3 is back from refferbishment. Was seen parked in the Yard at Southern Cross today next to FSH25. The Grey colour they use on the refferbs now doesnt date as badly as the colour that was used on FSH25 and VN12

Wrong.

Scrapped as a result of being destroyed in a rear-end derailment at Barnawartha whilst on standard gauge in 1982.
  kuldalai Chief Commissioner

To be precise  the VHN van was the trailing vehicle on the the UP  Spirit of Progress when a following Goods train missed a signal in thick fog, resulting in the Goods running into the rear of the Up SOP. The VHN van was a total write off as a result of this incident .

"Sir Thomas Bent"

Yeah, but if it hadn't been destroyed, it would've later become CS 242.

(Although I realise in hindsight that my post wasn't clear, I meant scrapped by chronologically, i.e. before 1983, not because of the New Deal...)

A quick question. Normally of a weekend/long weekend there are 3 N Class Loco's, 3-4 N Sets, a H Set and 3 Sprinters stored at Geelong. This weekend there was only a H set and the 3 Sprinters. Anyone know why?

2 of the N class locos and 2 of the FN sets can be vouched for being used on the double consist down AM services to Warrnambool and Swan Hill on Christmas day.
