I'd like to see him open Cardinia Road, maybe around 6.00am, in time for the first stopping train (at 6.49am) then be whisked off to Lynbrook to open that at around 6.30 for the first train at 7.00 and then be escorted across town to South Morang for the first train at 7.17.   It could be done.

Ok, thanks for that.

I don't expect each one to be opened individually by the Premier, it would be reasonable to assume he will open South Morang and the others will be opened by local Mayors or such.

Does anyone know what the details are for the openings?

Local Municipal Councils do not fund these projects, thus have nothing to do with opening of State Funded projects.

South Morang opens 10am Saturday 14th

Cardinia Road opens 10am Sunday 15th

Lynbrook opens 10am Sunday 22nd

While South Morang and Cardinia Road open prior to the timetable change, they won't get a train service until the 22nd April.

Cardinia Road looks about set to go. Can't see any name boards yet but the PIDs appear to be in place. A lot of the security fencing has come down. (was able to drive in and out of the carpark on the northern side today).

BTW I did not trespass close to running lines to get the shot - I was actually out on the edge of Cardinia Road itself and used the zoom on the camera. Very Happy

So Lynbrook opens 3 hours after the first train has stopped?

That's the official opening ceremony.  All trains call from the start of service on the first day.

Same as Coolaroo, the official party arrived hours after trains started using the station.

I haven't seen South Morang but Lynbrook and Lakeside are very nice looking stations in my opinion. No doubt within a week they'll look like cr4p due to dickheads vandalising them.
