An all 2050 class lash up was in Devonport at 1015. I think that is a first.

Passing through Ulverstone around 1:30h, heading to Burnie was a lash up of 6 locomotives: There were, 3 2050 class locos + 3 MKA's. I was able to get numbers but they were in that order.

Cheers Dan

Am I right that a 2050 class is down the melba line today?

To make sure they don't collide with any structure's ie bridges, Argent Tunnel and because of the nature of the Melba Line, tight cuttings

Aren't they a bit heavy to be used on that line?

No sign of any damage on them? If not they've passed the test. lol

I saw 3 x 2050's  (2054, 2052,2051 - great colour scheme TasRail should adopt it! ) along with a dozen unloaded flat cars running into Hobart around 9.30pm Wednesday night May 16! You can't mistake those horns - must of come down on 432 from Burnie and were going back up on the intermodal around 0100!

If they came FROM Burnie it was 431. 432 is TO Burnie from Boyer. The intermodal c. 0100 would have been 536.

Slip of the finger - I stand corrected!

There is a report of a train stabled at Rogerville with 6 to 8 wagons of long precast concrete sections.

You saw right Damo, and 2150 is back in the shops, not sure why though.

Can anyone report what happened to those concrete blocks stabled at Rogerville?

Do you know whats been done to 2151 Andy?

Same as 2150 I think, I cant quite remember. Pretty sure it had a vigilance upgrade and speedo upgrade, think its got new horns as well. I haven't really had much to do with it since its been out and about. She also went to East Tamar for a go on the load tank.

2151 got the same makeover as 2150
- headlights and controls upgraded
- ditch lights and flasher
- removal/replace marker lights
- move tm blower to the rear
- new horn and controls
- fit kaitiaki vig (which inc radar and speedo)
- removal of old carbon pile volt reg and fit old z style reg
- cleanup / removal up of old redundant wiring -removal of cab multiple ind lights etc
- windows , rust removal
- regrettably they ran out of money so no repaint.

A couple of my last jobs at tasrail were these upgrades ,I think they don't look too bad.
So I've gone from working on 50 year old 800hp to 3 month old 4400hp locos ,a real eye opener.

I hear talk of them being multipled together for their use as Burnie shunters so keep your eyes out .

Cheers

I was hoping you'd see this and give us a better run down ebr1, you did a good job and you've prolonged their life for a little longer! I reckon the DQ type side windows look alright in them too, makes the cab a bit brighter.

Went into Hobart on 35 that morning. Whether the sighting was of 35 held at Rogerville (for over an hour it would seem) or the wagons were picked up by 35, I can't confirm
