There is a rake of log wagons sitting at Conara.
Also heard that the ballast plough that was at Western Junction for sometime has now disappeared to somewhere..?

An unually busy morning in Devonport:

A north bound 2101 and 2100 with a rake of laden QB/ZQ ballast wagon stopped in Devonport and waited the 4-36 to pass though. The cement train departed for Railton and then after about twenty minutes, 2101 and 2100 continued on north bound.

The line up for tonights train out of Burnie looks set to have 5 mka's and the 2100 and 2101 from the beforementioned ballast train.

I saw a ballast train today led by Z Class locomotives 2110 and 2112.
It passed through Rhyndaston at midday heading south.
And returned at about 1.45pm heading north.

If you have a look behind West Park Oval, you might find something quite interesting.

Driving past the new transport hub saturday spied a yellow and green loco in the shed. Missed the number as tasrail truck was blocking the numbers, not not 100% sure which loco it was..

This would be the first 'loco' i have seen in the shed since the hub was constructed..

I hardly get behind there these days, due to the changes there etc. Tell me more?

Is that going to be used with the concrete sleepering and rail replacement program?

DV1 is in the sidings. An MKA unit had replaced DV1 this morning however 2002 is stabled in the yard and could take over from the MKA.

Is it unusual for a northbound train to head through Hobart's northern suburbs on a Sunday evening approx 6.30?
This one tonight included 2020 (s) and 2050 (s) type locos (am I allowed to describe loco classes in that way???)  but not many loaded wagons - perhaps several empties.

Cheers,

Why would you need to ask permission to describe the types of locos you saw?? You stated clearly the sort of locos they were. Did you consider that some sort of problem?

I'm surprised that no one has put a photo of the ballast cleaner up yet, come on Burnie boys, pick up your game!'

Here's one anyway...

First sighting yesterday morning of what is apparently the new Hbt - ETJ Train # 34 at Tea Tree, just after 0700h. 2137+2138 and 10 wagons. Crossed Train # 35 there.

Spotted T. # 34 again this morning, passing through Granton at 0613h. Again two '2130's and ten wagons. Apparently its opposite number train # 33 runs overnightt and arrives in Hobart in the early hours of the morning.

Ok, thanks.

On another matter, unusual  to note this afternoon rust on rail tops in Moonah area - asking whether there was a Sunday morning arrival into Hobart?

No, 35 was canceled last night, as was 36 I think. 40 something wagons out of Burnie tonight though.
  derwentparkjunc Chief Train Controller

Yes, it was a decent sized train 35 into Hobart this morning. I didn't see the motive power, but later (approx 8 am) saw what appeared to be a number of locos in the yard at Hobart.

I was surprised to see a small  train heading north through Glenorchy this evening approx 8. About 10 loaded wagons and some (2 or 3) MKAs.
Could this be train 34 running at an odd time?

Cheers,

DPJ
