Where Are They Now? (Former NSWRTM Exhibits)

Looks like most of the stuff is under cover. Do they still use the wash bay? A few loco's could fit in there. It's such a shame to see 4638 out in the open, it was in such good condition and would have made a ideal display at Thirlmere.

The wash bay is left open as it is the interconnecting road between the 2 turntables & the only usable access to No.1 turntable. The wash bay is also used to service any visiting steam locos.

Great Photos, Shed_Rat, We all wish we could have public access to see the loco's and rollingstock at Broadmeadow Smile

Just a question somebody might be able to answer: what happened to 3616?
I believe it was part of the sale a few years back. Who bought it, and where is it now located?

3616 is still stored at Thirlmere.

Thanks JT. It looks as though some parts have been removed from the loco. Anyone know why? Spares for 3642 maybe?

At one point, 3616 was under restoration, so you'll expect parts to be removed to get worked on, however it got stopped, because of several commitments on other engines at Thirlmere

I don't know what looks worse for wear: 3609 or 3616?

You can see 3609 behind the Roundhouse, out in the weather. They must be non-core loco's.

I would like to non-core some curators at TW.

Hello!

This is actually my first post on the forum, so if I lack a bit of forum format knowledge, excuse me.

Okay, this is an old thread, but I can confirm a few things:

1) 1308 is at Valley Heights, heavily damaged following an arson attack in 1993. She is dismantled there, awaiting restoration.
2) 1307 is not being statically restored at this stage, but is on display at Yass station.
3) 1076 is reaching the end of her restoration to steam, and I've heard a video shows her undergoing steaming tests. Haven't seen it, but still.
Hope this helps!
