I spotted a man in a high visibility jacket with a clipboard walking along the disused train line around Guildford the other day. I know the idea was muted a while ago of reopening this line, but figured it was a no go.He'll be a wealthy man when he's walked right along the line to Geelong...he's probably the guy who's being paid a cool $2M to report back to Minister Mulder regards the feasibility of reopening the line to passenger services. I definitely would have approached him about what he was doing with his clipboard.
Would anybody be able to say when the line was last used, and what by?The new rail bridge crossing the Midland Hwy at Guildford was finished in late 2001. I was on a West Coast Rail special from Geelong/Ballarat/Maryborough/Castlemaine/Bendigo during 2000, and best guess freight trains finished around 2002.

Possibly some use as late as June 2004.
Mike.
So we got our moneys worth out of that bridge then.No doubt you've heard the tales in the past of doing up stations on a branch line before closing the line.![]()
