Hazel Hawke died last night aged 83.  She had been diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2003, so her passing comes as no surprise.
She was a great campaigner for the rights of children, among others, and showed great dignity when Bob dashed off with Blanche.

Certainly was a classy lady, unlike her scumbag ex-husband.

I had the pleasure of driving the late Hazel Hawke, whilst i was employed as a COMCAR driver based in Sydney from 1991-1997,and i can say that it was a real pleasure and a delight to drive for her on a number of occassions. She will be sorely missed, and was a tireless worker in many commottees.

I was watching the report on this last night. The ABC reporter said 'Hazel will be remembered for' - at which point I cut him off and said 'being the one we actually liked, unlike that Blanche smeg'.

Anyway, another of life's classy ladies gone, I wonder how much better she'd have been as our first female PM than what was later to become the first... If only Hazel was the pollie not Bob!

Amen to that. Even in later life Hazel worked tirelessly for charities. Try Googling 'Bob Hawke charity work' and see the zero response.

I remember how she was treated by the media back in the early 80's.

Glad she didn't go into politics... the naz-ties wouldn't be far behind Rolling Eyes

So anyone that doesn't agree with you or your line of thinking is referred to as a naz-ties?  Bit ironic.

She appeared to be on all accounts a nice lady though.  It would have been a handful having to put up with what she did.
