Get G33 Going Update
On Thursday 30 May ASG G33 was loaded from its home for the last 45 years at the ARHS rail museum at Williamstown.
The loco was transported to Geelong on the back of 4 trucks.
On Friday the 4 trucks made their way to Queenscliff workshops where the locomotive was unloaded and placed on to the rails.
This has now bought all of the remaining steam locomotives from the Fyansford cement works back together some 47 years after the closure of the Fyansford Cement Works railway.
Work will now commence on freeing up all of the moving parts, checking the axles boxes and suspension, etc. before reuniting the 3 sections.
Once this task is completed it will be transported to the railway’s covered storage facility.
The Bellarine Railway would like to thank Downer Rail, Metro Trains, VicTrack, Associated Mobile Cranes, Stutchberry Brothers Haulage, Eastside Cranes for their assistance in moving G33.
With the first stage of getting G33 back in steam the railway will now commence the task of getting the loco back in to service.
