The mind boggles. Such a thing happening in Melbourne is the ultimate pipe dream.  I hope it's a roaring success for the Sydneysiders.

Hi,

Does anyone have the ex-Eveleigh time for the steam transfer? In another thread it was mentioned the Diesels leaving around 2pm ex-Eveleigh.

Cheers.

It was a good exhibition. It was also great being able to have a look inside a Southern Aurora sleeping carriage for my first time since 1989.

Another excellent weekend of operations by Heritage Express. A couple of small points:

1. It's a shame that 4001/4306/train were alongside platform five, as it did not allow the punters to get a look at the front of 4001 from the platform - obviously this is out of the control of Heritage Express, but it seems like a lost opportunity to show the locomotive in all its glory. Full credit to the idea to open the engine room doors of the 40 Class, and to allow people up into the cab of the 43 for a look around though!

2. I noticed there was no display by CountryLink or CityRail this year - surely the chance to look inside an XPT/Xplorer/Waratah train has gone begging! I realise that not many "mainstream" enthusiasts are too interested in these items of rolling stock, however it would have been nice for the casual observer and/or the children!

The variance in destinations for the trains was an excellent idea, with one shuttle each day going to Hurstville, and the final train of the Saturday and Sunday being the goods line tour - from previous visits to "shuttle train days", the final train of the day is always more or less empty, however this novel tour destination was fascinating. I organised a group of twelve of us to travel on the Sundays trip to Enfield, and it was an exceptionally enjoyable trip, with some great running!

I didn't take as many photos as last year, mostly because I felt that it would be hard to top last years efforts (it rained the whole weekend, the smoke and steam produced was nothing short of exceptional), but I did manage to get a few snaps in-between wandering around the various exhibits.

I didn't go down for imagery this year, unfortunately. I went as a punter for the Southern Auroura dinner. Yes, it was excellent.

What I, and Watson374 managed to get, was a couple of shots from 6 platform of 4001, and the H set in the refuge between 7 and 8. I'll post the image(s) later.
