    According to the advertising done for this event the Dining car was going to be serving meals as a stationary restaurant for the day. Bit of a let down if it wasn't either, false advertising any one.8)

    Yes, there were two press releases for the Open Day

    No need to be like that - channel 9's promo said nothing of the sort nor did anyone make a big fuss, the ss was perfectly fine aside from the old folks that struggled to take an order, remember how much you gave them, and then forget what you ordered - always a good chuckle and raising money for a good cause.

    Yes that is the story I read as well and it mentions nothing about booking just that it will become a pop up restaurant for the day, the first time it has been open to the public at the platform. One would expect more than a sausage sizzle though.

    Had a great time with the family at Ghan Open Day, loved the meal in Queen Adelaide. They had another Lounge and Diner set up on the moto-rail siding where that was happening, away from the display set. I guess so people weren't walking through while we were eating. Good to see GSR do this, can't wait for my next trip now.

    Thank you BRG171......the first one to confirm the restaurant meals did happen at the Terminal in a Dining Car....I was confident they occurred, but until you, no one said it did happen....8)

    Many people must have been there to look at the train, without actually looking at all of the train... I saw the dining experience happening, did no one else bother to check out the extra cars at the moto-rail?
