While visiting a mate in Parkes, I did some filming at the station there and on the 9th of June so last Sunday there was a consist of a PacNat 48, 2 Grain Corp 48s and a locomotive which was unknown in PacNat Livery? has PacNat received any new classes of locos? I don't have a photo of it at the moment but they did do a shunt so I have footage on it. I'll update this topic tomorrow with a photo. Until someone has pointed out what class of loco it is I'm going to call it a L class because its road number started with a L.
Now here is something to discuss. Should we start using letters for classes or numbers?
e.g
Numbers: 48 class
Letters: NR Class

L classes have existed for donkeys years, if its the L class I am thinking you saw.

There is talk that the NR's (National Rail) will be relabelled post their upgrade to reflect their capabilities. One of the names will be "PR"

Did it resemble an SD40? If yes, then, yes, the locomotive is an L class, a 3000hp EMD unit originally built by Clyde for WAGR/Westrail in 1967??? PacNat has 2 of these units IIRC. QRN owns all the rest, bar 1, which was used by ElZorro.

My info is probably way wrong, so others might be able to chime in

L277 (Locolease Australia, and recently used by El Zorro) was built for Comalco's Weipa operations and so far has never gone to WA.
