This thread is for anyone to add images and or discuss any bridge type structure, regardless of location, purpose, type, era, size or construction material. Hope to see contributions from all areas of the country.  


I will start with the Pacific Motorway M1 Bridge over Mudgeeraba Creek to the south east of Mudgeeraba QLD. The rail distance was 56 miles 10 chains and the Google Earth co- ordinates are 28° 4'57.45"S 153°22'29.95"E    UTM 56 J 536841.57m E 6893588.03m N


I was interested in the marks on the piers including the roman numbers and modern digits as well as the paintwork. The older northbound bridge was marked and painted differently to the southbound as well as different pier shape, octagonal, on the southbound.


The southern end of the northbound motorway pier is circled #4 and next pier circled #2 with other digits above circle on that pier. Set of 4 piers in that row were circle numbered in order; 4, 2, 5, 3.  Other rows did not seem to have same paint.

Perhaps best if folks add a rail bridge amongst the non rail structures every so often so this thread stays in the rail section and not shifted to some other section. Be advised my initial post on this thread did include railway bridge remains, both in text and image formats, which is very much on topic for the rail archaeology section.

Moderators, please be a little broad minded if a non rail structure is mentioned?

When it was built, and the last of the big bridges on this line, it was built with the local rain fall taken into account.
All the other bridges are on brick supports with timber pylons attached. This is all brick.
Note the pipe hanging off the centre brick pylon, the end is 5-6ft above my head and it's hanging from the top which is roughly in line with the current road bridge.
Behind the road bridge you see a track near the fence, the old concrete road down to a low bridge not quite seen from this side. The old road would be 15ft or more under water during heavy rain.
