Why would they reconnect it when Tasrail only goes as far as Burnie? Is there something we should know about?
I dunno why that line isn't open they could be running a Sunday market train.I will tell you why the line isn't open: No freight traffic; poor track condition; Tasrail are not accredited or insured to use it other than care & maintenance.

I think machines were in Hobart yard again this morning, so it might be reasonable to assume that much work is being done relatively close to Hobart.
Would Brighton be used as a base for track work further north?

Yes, but sometimes Rogerville still gets used. Then obviously Lowdina is the next available location.
