A Stimulus is (as I understand it) money released by a Government to enhance confidence and get people to spend to keep the economy running along as normally where there are external or internal economic difficulties possible in a difficult time globally.
So, in that context, Billions of AUD's went overseas to OTHER economies, like China, the Eurozone, etc.. Huh!

We had Solar Manufacturers in Australia; (one remains in SA). Why not stimulate them; even if they were twice the price, all the money would remain here, worker's paying tax, buying cars and at the end of it, you would have an industry that, due to the scale economies, could well compete globally with the likes of China, Canada, Germany etc.
Struggling and successful industries Australian alike could well have used the massive doses of largesse dished out, like Agriculture.

The first one sounds like pure Fantasyland; the second sounds like King Canute trying to turn back the sea.
I'd love to hear some detail of just how these will be accomplished.
Rudd, on the other hand, seems to be completely uninspired, with a slogan of "A new way." Does the leopard change its spots?
