    You're right, SSR don't already have enough locos parked around doing nothing, must be to add to their operational fleet! State Mine and Eskbank are full of SSR locos sitting around with nothing to do. With Qube and Freightliner chasing John Holland and ARTC perway trains, hardly as if there's a glut of work for the old bangers anymore...

    Some of that appearance is distortion due to the camera position and the very wide angle lens.

    The nose of B75 slopes back like all the other EMD noses of that type. It doesn't appear to in that photo.

    The B class did have a hinged frame to allow the headlight bulb to be replaced externally, which does extend the headlight  barrel by maybe 50mm.

    Some repaired noses, like S317 do have longer headlight barrels.

    So the answer is probably Clyde or VR......

    Sorry to resurrect an old thread but is there any news on B75's progress? It looked to be waiting for it bogies in the photo. Has anyone seen it out in the SSR yard as of late?

    I am starting to think that there might be a bogie/traction motor holdup stopping progress if nothing much has happened for this long. Either that or the project has been put on the back burner due to a supposed downturn in traffic that I've heard about.

    How is B75 coming along? Just like all the other foamer projects, no where fast! Even if it does resurface, it will be the same old junk under a shiny VR blue paint job. Might look good being pushed out of the section be another operator! LOL!!!! Donate it to a museum I say, stop flogging a lame horse! Or even better still how about we cut it up and use the 2 cabs for the new SSR locos so we don't have to drive long end leading across the state......

    No thanks! I am happy on my coal trains...... I know when I'm on and off. They run like a well oiled machine, although I do prefer the old g's and c's on it. The CEY's suck smeg.......

    Ha ha, fun times - I take it you work on the Newstan Hampster wheel going round and round in that case.  Do you drive for SSR, or just boil the billy and keep the right cab seat warm?

    Yep, there is always someone who want do it all. How long have you been with SSR for, I thougth that it was a good place to work.  Looks like lots of interesting types of trains in the magazines that SSR have.

    Dodgy Brothers,Not sure how smart your comments are,for starters B75 is painted in CRL Livery not VR Livery and has a rebuilt engine,new main gen,traction motors,radiators,bogies,aux gen and extensive cab work and rewiring to name just some of the work done,this was all necessary as the loco was a shell when brought over from seymore so hardly a dulux overhaul.From the fact your email address is ih8ssr or something similar might i suggest you are possibly a disgruntled former fireman(ssr unfortunatley had to lay quite a few firemen off last year due to a downturn in work) and as such the only thing i think you would be driving is the porcelain bus !!

    Perhaps just ensuring all systems are working on a trip longer then a few metres.
