Re-subtitling that particular scene never gets old. I've seen it used for anything and everything down to and including electronic road pricing in Singapore.

It's worth noting it doesn't work if you actually understand German.

It serves them right....

When visiting Germany in the 1970s, I found it was common for music with English lyrics to be played very loudly, while German language songs were played at a less disturbing volume....

I did watch some of the program concerned (on SBS, I think) and found it pretty turgid.

The actor who played Hitler did look like him and certainly played that particular scene well.

I am not sure how many are aware that Goering, head of the Luftwaffe in WW2 was known to have worked his model railway whilst his bomber crews and fighters were out on the job. Apparently this did cause some angst on the German side as while "the boss" was nicely enjoying himself, his men were putting their lives on the line.

I understand another senior German WW2 air force, General Adolph Galland, also had model trains.

Not to be outdone, one of "Bomber" Harris's (Chief of RAF Bomber Command) deputies, Air Vice Marshal Saundby, worked O gauge model trains.

Perhaps the outcome of the war might have been different if these three had gotten together for a running night....
