Stuart's work email came back with "out of office" no date of of expected return.
Edit: Spoke to my in law (Intermodal) the 6-7 trainee positions for Enfield are the result of PN picking up ballast work from another operator (SSR maybe?)
Chronic payment of overtime, retiring drivers and some big contracts coming into play also are behind the push to get trainee "drivers".
Let it be noted, that trainee drivers hired back in 2011 are still not even close to looking for assessment as drivers. If you get the position, you will be used as a second person (a lot of car driving and shunting on the ground-no train driving) for a significant amount of time. You will also be used for more then just ballast work-in fact that makes up only a small percentage of what Enfield does. Expect to fall in love with midnight shunting at Botany, or being covered in wheat or stone dust as you tip wagons.
Long hours, blank line rostering and essentially your applying for a second persons position with the chance of becoming a driver. Keep that in mind if you do apply.
