I heard a whisper at the Canberra Exhibition that Austrains is doing a re-run. A Basix Range model of the 442 and its not too far away from release. There was mention of the errors on previous the model but not sure if I heard right they maybe corrected.
I guess it depends on how much the mark up is?Dazz, I think you might be a bit unfair including this seller in this thread.
Interesting to see what this eventually goes for?

In all fairness Austrains could rebrand all their loco's as Basix without fear of contradiction. Will be interesting to see if quality level will incite a purge on eBay leading up to the 81/G releaseI admit some of the Austrains models are pretty basic but just how far can you go with full details on a model. Some things on rollingstock when reduced to 1:87 virtually disappear so what happens then if you don't include it some one will complain that you left it off, and if you do include it some one complains that it is not detailed enough. You cannot possibly make an exact scale model of something and have it run flawlessly on a model railway even if your layout has perfect track work. Clearances on the real thing in places is down to Millimetres how can you transfer that to a model 87 times smaller and still have the locomotive or whatever run flawlessly. You cant so some things have to be compromised here and there to get it to do it.
Fair point David, but the prices generally don't reflect the lagging standards when compared with competitors. We're probably going off topic now anyhow
Time will tell whether the forthcoming 81/G will be a 'Powerline' body mounted on a reasonable mechanism
What about an S class kitAll things considered, that's not a huge markup... the S Class kit is out of stock and probably won't be produced again. The original RRP was $550.

'Twas $650 RRP in 2004 when it first appeared on the SEM website http://web.archive.org/web/20040413162232/http://home.waterfront.net.au/~sem/locos.htmI stand corrected. I must have been thinking of the R or J.
2007 still $650 http://web.archive.org/web/20070811232723/http://home.waterfront.net.au/~sem/locos.htm
dropped to $610 in 2008 http://web.archive.org/web/20080908092902/http://home.waterfront.net.au/~sem/locos.htm
Sold out by 2009.
These just popped up on Ebay:They did that with a railway station here in Adelaide. They had a book about Womma Railway Station which was an Island platform suburban station put in when the built Elizabeth. It has variously been described here as a platform with a shed on it. And that just about described it as well. A history of it would take a sentence at the most.
