Stolen Auscision 73 Class

    I have just noticed a Facebook entry from Barnes Hobby shop up here in Newcastle. They are really good people and don't deserve to be ripped off by this scumbag. I believe the theft happened on Monday or Tuesday. Be wary of Ebay etc. If he is an acquaintance, he may visit your layout next.

    I looked at that one on ebay and it is advertised as being heat damaged (on top of the hood above the circuit board).

    It is entirely possible that the bast-tard who stole the one from Barnes wanted to replace the one with the heat damage, so knocked it off and is now trying to sell his original (damaged) model.

    I hate to cast aspersions, but it needs to be investigated......too much of a coincidence that the day after a Patrick 73 is knocked off, a damaged one shows up on ebay.

    He specifically says "no pick-up available" too, which possibly adds further suspicion.

    Looks like a $130 as-is no-warranty from one of the shows with the heat damaged cover.

    It is a low act to steal from anyone.  Let's hope the thief is caught.

    Please let us all know the outcome.  I had some items stolen from me recently (not train related). It does make you feel angry and annoyed.

    Barnes are aware of the ebay 73. Hopefully the seller of it can clarify its ownership. If you want to follow the conversation go to Facebook and search for Barnes Hobbies and Cycles. They also have a website http://www.barneshobbies.com.au/ so if you have any information, you can get their contact details. The only good part of this is 99% of people are disgusted by this dishonesty.

    I wouldn't have thought that the owner of the ebay 73 has to do anything to clarify his ownership unless the one stolen from Barnes had the same heat distortion.

    I checked the FB page. There's some geniuses about 'it looks brand new. even the box looks new' - then from the shop 'yes so was ours!!!' Well hmmm, let's just think about that why would the shop be selling a heat damaged unit? These locos have been on the market for less than 10 months, most of them would look brand new, except that one's not, it's damaged, as for the box, I have perfect boxes for all my gear, most of it is much older than 10 months... No receipt? I have a Walker, mailed out to me in the last couple of months - do I know where the receipt is? Nup.

    OMG, someone shoplifts a model train and the day after, someone sells one on EBay! That MUST the the stolen one! STOP! THEIF! POOOLLLLIIIICCEEEEEE!

    Geez some people have fertile imaginations, or at least, subscribe to conspiracy theories. By the same logic, a car is stolen in Melbourne & the day after, I list the same type for sale in Sydney, that must mean I stole the one in Melbourne, right?!?

    Barnes Hobbies can A- claim the loss as a tax write-off and B-deal with it themselves.
