Does anyone have any material, or information, that they would share, on the WW1 Australian Railway Companies that were sent to France?
"A Railway War—The Story of the 6th ROC during World War I " was featured in the December 2010 issue of Australian Railway History. http://www.arhsnsw.com.au/bnbi10.htmThank you, I have that I couldn't remember which issue it was. I also have the war diaries and the book ROD at war. I am hoping there is more material people may know of.
CEW Bean's Official History has four volumes (each over 1000 pages) dedicated to the AIF in France, and another, slightly smaller, volume on Sinai and Palestine. Not a lot of mention of the Sections of the Railway Corps, but this was a body of, perhaps 2000 non-combatant troops, thoroughly integrated with the Brits, in one of the biggest and bloodiest wars of all time.Thank you, yes I am fully aware of Bean and indeed the breadth of the war.
