I am no longer a regular commuter and until now I have not bought into the rail dispute. But last Tuesday I took the train from Kogarah to Kings Cross at 11.40am and arrived and 12.05pm. It was a fast train and I was quite happy with the journey time.



However, coming home at 4.10pm I could not take the Cronulla train so had to wait a bit longer.

4:14pm ex Kings Cross stops at all between Sydenham and Kogarah and is scheduled to take 28 minutes.  4:24pm the same stopping pattern and journey time.  That's a whopping 3 minutes longer than your morning trip which you were satisfied with.  But if it took longer, and the train was held up at Tempe, then you must have fallen victim to some unforeseen problem.  It happens.

  Raichase Captain Rant!

This bugs me. Timetables are freely available, and I don't know when people started just expecting to "turn up and go". I plan my journeys around the timetable, not expect the timetable to work around me. If there's a "20 minute gap" in service times, don't turn up at the last minute to miss a train. Arrive ten minutes before the train is due out and wait.
