Passengers travelling on the T2 Airport line towards the city were advised to allow additional travel time due to urgent signal equipment repairs between Holsworthy and East Hills earlier and a staffing issue at Campbelltown earlier. Trains were stalled between Lidcombe and Ashfield for over two hours last night. It wasn't until around 8pm that services started to slowly run again.
I heard the bigger stations got some buses to convey passengers but the small ones got nothing.

Sydney Trains advises that trains have been suspended on the Cronulla branch Line between Cronulla and Sutherland in both directions due to a person injured by a train at Caringbah. Major delays can be expected. Buses are expected to be in operation by 7.30pm. We recommend you delay your journey or make alternative arrangements until further notice. We are endeavouring to get rail travellers to their destinations as soon as possible. We will provide further updates as information becomes available.

I have noticed the Transport Sydney Trains site has this interruption displayed. It would be useful if they logged a time when the incident occurred rather than just saying it is current information. I don't suppose it helps if you are stuck on a train behind it but it would let you know if has just occurred or might be getting closer to being cleared.
Sorry if this is a dumb question.. Can anyone explain what procedures could be activated to rescue the train more quickly, eg send locos wrong road from Broadmeadow or push from the rear and what cooperation happens between the different operators in these circumstances?

8T IIRC. I went past and saw the empty 8-car set sitting there with no one inside. Thought something may have been going on.
