    This station was a terminus for 4 years.
    The previous terminus is 42 km (by rail ) to the South-South-East.
    In its heyday, the station had a four-track yard, goods shed, and silos.
    Goods trains still go through here; a named passenger train used to.

    Not Albion - I believe that station is out of scope for this quiz, which (I think) is non-metro.

    I was just contemplating the nature of my second clue when brownhillboy pounced. Broadford it is. The APM siding at Broadford (but which seemed to be called McDougall) was locked by Annett lock off the Broadford frame.

    The Malcolm Moore was best known, seen crossing the Hume Highway in 1970:

    Hopefully this location will provide some interest:

    It was a mainline station with a complex yard. Basic loco facilities were provided including a turntable. Perusal of a 1960's Working Timetable shows that separate light engine movements, from other stations in both the up and down direction, were timetabled to run some services from this location.

    Ahh, a loco for a weekly goods. That sounds like Horsham, the loco coming from Dimboola to work the Hamilton via Balmoral goods.

    Numurkah? Light engine from Shepparton to run the Picola goods, and from Tocumwal to run an up goods from Numurkah.

    The mystery station still has a frequent passenger train service and its substantial station buildings have remained intact.

The branch line, now truncated, still sees trains.The other station supplying a light engine had a very small sub-depot. However it provided a locomotive on a daily basis to work a through goods from yet another entirely separate  location. This through goods only operated in the up direction, there was no corresponding down movement, hence the light engine arrangement.
    The mystery station still has a frequent passenger train service and its substantial station buildings have remained intact.

    Not Korong Vale, Ararat, Horsham, Numurkah, Kerang or Birregurra.
