Found Queensland Railways History 1863—1909 in Trove.

On the 25th February, 1864, with ceremony befitting the historical occasion, the first sod was turned at North Ipswich by Lady Bowen, wife of Sir George Ferguson Bowen, then Governor of Queensland, and railway construction was now commenced. The Queenslander Saturday 7 August 1909 http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/21829710

Could be a useful starting point for any historians remembering most facts in the article eventually can be cross checked through websites such as Trove http://trove.nla.gov.au/ Gov Gazettes or Pugh's Almanac http://www.textqueensland.com.au/

25th February, 1864 was 150 years ago last week.
