Heard a rumour yesterday that someone (SSR?) has bought CFCLA locos S300-S311. These have been based in Adelaide since July last year, mainly used as standby locos (when regular loco GL108 is either being serviced or had failed) on the Patrick Portlink Balco service. Also had a brief stint on ballast trains in September/October.

Is it possible to set some sort of trap that goes off when there is the smell of aerosol paint in the air?

Perhaps catapulting a large net over the offenders?

Of course the leftie busy bodies would cry blue murder about the emotional damage that being netted would inflict on the juvenile crims. But no jury would ever convict a company or person that set up a trap up to catch the little brats.

Wait and see what happens, that works in most cases I imagine.

But on a side note, don't SSR own a rail equipment leasing company?
Because if they do, I find it hard to imagine CFCLA selling to a direct competitor.

Would I?

Probably not. Unlike rednecks who would demand their hands chopped off, much like their mates in the Tailban Razz

I am aware of that fact, yes, I agree that SSR have got a significant number of locos Ex CFCLA in the past. But I was under the impression that they have not done so since SSR started CRL as an entity.

The Capital Connection in Palmerston North is kept in a compound where sensors activate a water spray if anyone enters the fenced off area, pretty effective I understand at deterring taggers and vandals.

Should be paint rather than water.
