The first two 93's of the current order were out test running last week. There was a C44 frame heading through Hexham on a truck last Thursday, and another on Monday of this week. It's highly unlikely that there were only two other frames on the production line at Broadmeadow. So are there more C44's to follow after the last 93?Interesting that you saw it at Hexham, the frames are made at Forgacs in Carrington. Which way was it traveling ?
What does CRL stand for and does anyone know what their use will be?CRL stands for a number of things, but in this context it is Consolidated Rail Leasing. Even though these locomotives appear on their website, it has been asserted here that they will not be going to CRL. I guess we'll just have to wait and see where they end up...
You didn't wreck your camera while photographing these? They are ugly.An improvement on the Freightliners in Pommy Land
An improvement on the Freightliners in Pommy LandLOL I agree, those pommy locos are ug-gleeee. I don't find our NR clones too distasteful..but that's only my opinion.

They look like they are really made out of plywood, any specs on these available?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerHaul_%28locomotive%29

On a serious note, will this become the standard GE/UGL cab just like the NRs that cloned and cloned?
Dare I ask what a "hotty" loco might look like?![]()
Thanks for the update and photos here & on Flickr.
Is there much 3' 6" track in Goninans facility ? I'm guessing where they will base these locos when road trials begin , , , maybe Townsville QLD ? ? ?
233 units in the GE order
Looks like GE have squeezed the 12 cylinder GEVO into the 3'6" loading gauge, weight in SA press reports is said to be 130 tonnes
If the long hood is low enough to squeeze into the QR/Aurizon loading gauges then it will be better competition to the proposed GT46CU-ACe than a 3700hp PowerHaul. Another wait and see.
