Airport 7 Day GatePass

Next week, I am travelling to Sydney for a week, Friday to Friday. I contacted Sydney Trains regarding the MyMulti Weekly Tickets, and have found this will suit me being a tourist, as basically when I land, I will going to Maitland straight up for SteamFest. I will be then travelling on various transport for the remainder of the week, including a trip to Katoomba. Frankly, I'm happy to pay once. On past trips, I've either just paid distance, as needed, or used the MyMulti DayPass.

During this time, I'm expecting to go through to Airport at least twice, once on arrival, once to depart, but it is highly likely that I will also be seeing someone off during my stay. I'm also hoping to be able to watch an A380 take off at some point. When I first did my research, I found mention of the 7 Day GatePass on several pages, and I even found reference on old LifeHacker article.

Now I can't find a reference to it at all. It only shows the individual GatePass prices, which implies that I will need to pay for each trip to and from the airport. I'm aware of the 400 route, but I am staying near Central Station.

My questions:
Does this mythical 7-day gatepass still exist?
Does it still cost $21? (last price I had in early march).
I can purchase it at the Ticket Office at Domestic Station?

I have also checked with SydneyTrains regarding the validity, as I land about 4pm on Friday, and my understanding is that a MyMuti purchased after 3pm includes that day, then the following 7 days. On that logic, the GatePass would follow the same rules, so I can use it as I fly out on following Friday?

Thanking you in advance!

This was the case late last year when I last got one.
I went up to the window at Domestic, showed my periodical and asked for a weekly gate pass.

The gatepass is sold by Airport Link and not Sydney Trains, so don't count on the same rules applying.

I'd also be VERY surprised if the airport station will sell you a Mymulti pass and airport gate pass separately. They might, but don't count on it.
They don't work for Sydney Trains, they work for the AirportLink consortium.

Yes, it exists.
Yes it does cost $21 to purchase.
Don't see why you wouldn't be able to buy it from the ticket window there.
I'm not sure if you get the extra day if you purchase after 3pm with a Weekly GatePass.

I've bought a weekly gate pass and a MyMulti at the ticket window at the airport.  Problem you'll have is that if you bought it on Friday, it would expire on Thursday and not be useful for your return commute!

Hey there witsend, just to confirm, you do get the extra if you purchase the weekly GatePass after 3pm.

I doubt it. The weekly gatepass works independantly of the MyMultipass. Witsend will be up for a weekly plus a single so $21 + $12.60 = $33.60 unless using the 400 bus or a taxi to the city. Possibly after the flight, just bite the bullet and get a MyMulti at the airport and pay the daily gate pass, and again on the way out again. Get a discount of $8.40...

I will be at the airport a couple times in addition to my arrival and departure.

The MyMulti Weekly for me is $63 for the amount of travel I'm planning during my stay, given that I am heading straight for Maitland on Friday after getting off the plane. Given that I will pass through the gate at least 4 times, I didn't want to pay it each time. I'm aware of the 400, and that was a potential option for two of the visits, as I won't have luggage with me.

I've caught the 400 past (and to) the airport a number of times. Lots of people take luggage onto the 400!. Including me last time I flew.

People are working out that there is an option that isn't overpriced. Yes not as convenient, but it exists and it's being used.

Then there are all the airport employees that park on the other side of the Cooks River and walk the final kilometre to work at International. Presumably they don't get a discount on parking like they get for the train.

I myself am guilt of carrying luggage on the 400 which hasn't taken as long as I thought it would.

Right.  Must have missed that bit in the OP where he mentions getting in after 3pm.

Oh good, that additional day is a good show.

By the way, the 400 is a lot cheaper (duh), but it's also quite frustrating as the buses run from Burwood to Bondi Junction via Rockdale, which isn't the shortest trip. You might not need much travel time, but you will need the float time.

But if you've got a weekly GatePass it's all a moot point anyhow.

Also worth noting as a general point that changes subsequent to the date of the earlier posts in this thread mean that a form of weekly gatepass is implicit with use of an Opal card.  An Adult opal card is capped to a maximum of $21 worth of gatepass in any Opal week.  The definition of Opal week doesn't work to the OP's advantage in this case though.
