Hate to dig up old threads, but figured my question would fit better here than in a whole new thread.
Is the network on the SG (Melbourne to Wodonga, presumably still operated by VicTrack) still analogue? Have owned scanners and radio equipment for a while but I've been wondering as usually I don't hear anything before I get annoyed by the beeps every 20 seconds and turn it off.
The beeps are still coming through as an analogue signal, but I do hear digital data bursts occasionally. Would these short bursts be digital voice traffic? If so, why are the frequent and annoying tone pips still analogue?
