Only happens on the dev site and only when you refresh the page. NFI why.

LMAO, as a particularly creepy error, when I was having a look to see if I could replicate the error, I know notice on the normal Railpage site, when I refresh the page the background of the "quick reply" button is now covered by 20 Bevans profile pictures instead. I didn't realise how unsettling that picture was until you get 20 of them staring at you!

To reset the pictures back to normal, just refresh the screen again.

Problem does not seem to exist on the dev. site however!

EDIT: Seems I now have a DT Head fetish...

Well, then. This is new. Until now it'd only been happening on the dev server. As I understand it it only happens when you refresh the page, not load a new one.

I blame today's hip-hop obsessed youth.

While trying to post an image, the forum doesn't like a ~ in the URL where I would normally have it in my hosting URL.

eg (img)http://users.com/~vjm/somepic.jpg(/img) won't preview or show correctly when submitted (but shows up fine in the edit control), but the same URL without the ~ works OK.

Hope that makes sense.

Can you provide me with a specific example to allow me to fix the problem?

Is it a bug that I can make thread's sticky's? I presumed that this was a holy moderator power, yet I have been blessed with this miracle.

EDIT: As a little bit more detail for MGH- I can only make threads that I have started "sticky's"

In some forums you are allowed to make stickies. Within which forum do you observe this behaviour?

It was the " General" forum, tried it out on my photo thread.

Ahh, ok then move along nothing to see hear...
Oh wait, nope I may have another.

A few times now, when I hit reply, the quote of the person I am responding to becomes ridiculously small.
Example is here

That's because people aren't clicking the "remove formatting" button within the rich text editor when posting.

I thought the whole idea of a Rich Text Editor was to preserve the formatting!

Graham4405
No, it's to customise text formatting. When people come along and paste in 8pt font the RTE will keep that pasted formatting, and when their post gets quoted the shrunken text size is even more noticeable because quote blocks have smaller font sizes than the rest of the post block.

It's a problem that's been plaguing me for some time, because "normalising" the text (standard font face, size, colour, etc) is hard to do.

The issue of ghost pages or pages that are not there, but shown to be there on the thread heading is still happening! I cannot say where as it is a random thing and can show up in any thread. You click on the last page and you get the error message that I posted earlier! That is all that is on that page till someone posts something, then it looks like the error moves on. It usually happens in most cases to a page 3 on any thread I have noticed though.

Yes, this is in our bug tracker and is being worked on. The forums are ancient code, held together by sheer force of will, and you'd be surprised how much of a waterfall effect changing the pagination can have...

No problems MGH I just thought it best to point it out. Also the site is really slow for me as well, it is slowing down again by the looks of it. Some days are better than others though but it is still slower than it was.
