I am making some trains for a layout I am planning based on the Kew railway. I have designed HO scale CM and Hitachi's. Hence the PICH Hobbies user name, i am going to start a company producing HO scale VR Suburban equipment. Both are $75 per car kit, unpainted. Painted and I constructed cars can be purchased for $150. As the mesh is new i am willing to accept returns as quality may not be perfect. I will give full refunds. PM me for more info. First kit being made. tomorrow so i will post a pic of the prototype. All models are 3D printed and do not include a chassis. I intend to design a chassis in the next couple of weeks.

Peter, I split your post fromt he for sale section as that is not for model announcements.  Several peopple have announced  Hitchie models but I haven't seen the end product, so the market is still open. I note there is  someone doing MN scake 3d printed models, so let's hope you have done some test prints etc.

Use this thread to keep us updated on your models etc.

I wish you well.

Hi,

Update- I am working on finalizing the mesh for the Hitachi and CM. Once they are done the next product will hopefully be the un-modified ComEng and the Harris's. If you wish to see any other kits on the market please tell me and I will see if it is possible. I am eventually going to include buildings and infrastructure. If there is a specific building, I can custom design and build to order.

Hi all,

The plans for the CM and Hitachi have been lost, however I am custom making VR Station nameboards, and a VR 12x15' van goods shed will be ready by tomorrow. I have almost completed a VR 600 gallon water tank, and VR platforms are under construction at the moment. The van goods shed is $15. Station nameboards are $10 for 1 and $25 for 3. The VR water tank will be $20 each.

Good on you Peter,
Keep at it and when its time, add some pictures please?  We wait with anticipation Wink
If you don't know how to place pictures just ask, but basically you need to upload them on the web and then add the web address to your messages and they will be available to see. An easy way to do this is write a blog where it is easy to show your story, and explain what you are trying to do. By clicking on your blog pictures you can copy the blogs pictures to your Railpage thread.
Cheers

Thanks Rod,

I am picking up the first sample of the van goods shed today. I already have test prints of the station nameboards using the name Maldon for my layout. All samples are painted white but will be painted properly once the design is perfected

I am anouncing a new product currently under development. The products are Overland coach kits. While Trainbuilder have done the Overland in 10 car configuration, I thought I would do a kit version, with each car seperate. The estimated cost per coach is $45 not including postage. Postage will be free for 3+ coaches. Kits will not include paint or glue. At the moment I am working on the Twinette Sleepers, and when I have the master I will post some images. I may also consider Lima car conversion kits as well if the demand warrants it as I have an example of each of the original Lima cars, a PCO, a Club Car, a Sleeper- Tantini and a first class.

I hope these actually eventuate, I'd love a set, none of your other items seem to have ever arrived.

Hi Paul,

With the previous items, the program I was using to design them turned out dodgy on the 3D printers when I tried printing anything larger than a nameboard. I have since fixed the problem, but I was getting used to the new program. The new program is now easy to work with, but means that I can only produce kits.

I'd be interested in both a Lima conversion kit and additional stand-alone kits.  Let us know!

At the moment, I am a third of the way through the Twinette sleeper. I am expecting the master to be ready within a week.

The prototype version of the Twinette is being printed as I type. I will post images when it is finished, and then when I have assembled it. At the moment, I only have the basic car, I will work on the smaller details once I am sure that the model works and is of a reasonable quality. Please PM me if you would like one of these cars, as I would like to know roughly how many I need to make, so I do not make too many, as I do not have much space to store spare models.

Also, PICH Hobbies is changing its name. We are now VR Models.

How about you wait until you have made something, then show us. Customers can then decide if your products are worth buying.

Hi Blacksmith,

As i said, I will not take full orders until I have a finished product and images, I am just seeing who is interested and therefore how many I should make once the model is finished.

Actually Peter,
You should make one and then if you think it is good enough, show us the results. In kit form and then assembled, painted and running on a layout.

Only after you show it, ask for indications of people who might purchase it, to work out your numbers.
But again wish you success Wink

Hi,

The name has been changed to VR Kits and Models. For special inquiries and other questions use the email vrmodels112@gmail.com
Follow on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/VRkitsandmodels
We are away over the next 8 days so will be unable to reply to inquiries and/or comments.
We have gotten a fair way through the first and second models, the PCO and Sleeper cars, with pre-production samples expected to be ready in the next month or so, the delay being due to our examinations.

Hi Poath,

This is just as a hobby for myself and a friend to do in our spare time.

That's fine. However you need to be aware of the legal implications of using words like business and company, and in particular trading under a business name that isn't registered. eg https://www.facebook.com/VRkitsandmodels has been created as a company page but you aren't a registered company. As a hobby you aren't entitled to register or trade using a business name, and you need to be very wary of doing any trading using a business name that is registered to someone else (eg "VR Models"). As boring as all the rules may be, there can be serious penalties for crossing the line even by mistake.

The ATO and ASIC websites are full of helpful guides that will ensure you stay on the right side of the law while doing your hobby.
