On Saturday 23 August 2014, the Daylesford Spa Country Railway chartered DERMPAV's 58RM for a day trip from Melbourne to Traralgon and return for our members and volunteers to enjoy a social day out. It was also the first time since the early 1990's that a DERM had been past Pakenham.
Many thanks to DERMPAV, V/Line, RTBU and other relevant organisations for all their efforts in running the DERM to Traralgon and return for us. DERMPAV were extremely helpful with meeting our requirements and the rail motor ran smoothly all day. Also, thank you to the DSCR management and volunteers who supported the concept and contributed to the day's activities. Finally, thanks to all the members who booked on the trip and made it the success that it was.
Members are one of the foundations of any volunteer preservation society and organising a fun day out such as this is one small way we can thank them for their contributions to the DSCR. Membership of the DSCR is $30 per year and includes our quarterly magazine "The Turntable" and notification of special events such as this. If anyone wants more info, visit the Volunteers page on our website or contact me via PM
For those who want to travel on a DERM, the DSCR regularly operates 63RM between Daylesford and Bullarto on our Sunday heritage train services, while DERMPAV also offer public tours on the mainline in 58RM
Below are some photos from the trip, but there are many more on my flickr photostream
