    NR81 8114 were stabled where the terminal shunter normally sits. {8114's paintwork looking very fresh - PN no stars}

    4AD8 Ghan away on time with 29 vehicles.NR74 up the Front.

    PL1 now back at Keswick as the shunt engine.

    This will be the first time in quite a while that all three Ghan liveried NR's have been in the territory at the same time!

    NR Class leader  NR1 NR75 with 26 carriages including The Chairman's Car, but excluding any motorail cars!

    On further enquires, I was told that todays 1AD8 will terminate at Marla where passengers will be transferred by coach to Alice Springs, and then continue their journey to Darwin aboard the consist of 7DA8 which will terminate at Alice Springs on Monday. This service would become 2LD8.
    Likewise passenger on board 7DA8 will be transferred to Marla via coach to join todays 1AD8 Ghan consist for the return to Adelaide arriving tuesday morning.
    It appears the line is blocked south of Alice Springs due to a "significant" freight train derailment!

    My fav trains are basically anything that has an EMD (pre-1995 built locos), Alco or EL leading.

    NR74 NR109 with 27 carriages

    GSR have announce some changes to the Ghan timetabling commencing 1st April 2015
    1AD8 and 4AD8 will depart 5 minutes earlier at 12:15pm and include a 2 hour "Outback Sunrise" stop (6am to 8am) at Marla on the north bound journey.
    4DA8 will include an "Outback dinner under the stars" stop (9pm to 11pm) at Manguri on the south bound journey.
    7DA8 (Peak season second Ghan -May to August) will become a 4 day, 3 night journey, with an 11 hour stop at Alice Springs, including "Dinner under the Stars" in the MacDonnell Ranges, an option to fly to Ulura and back to rejoin the train.
    Then down to Manguri for a 10 hour stop (9am to 7pm) with tours of Coober Pedy. Returning to Adelaide at 1:10pm on Tuesday.

    A change from the usual consist arrangement today.
    Previously arrangement was Premium class/Gold Class/Lounge/3 x Dining cars/Lounge/Gold Class/Red Class.
    New arrangement being trialled = Gold Class/Gold Lounge/Gold Dining//Premium Dining/Premium Class/Premium Lounge//Gold Dining/Gold Lounge/Gold Class//Red Class

    I suspect it's more to separate the Gold and Premium 'guests'. The previous consist meant Premium guests had to walk through the gold section to reach the Lounge and Dining cars.
    As Premium is now being advertised as a "higher" level service to Gold, I think they have sort to separate the classes.

    You're not going to like this Pressman, got word from a friend that 109 is off to Challora for a repaint. Could get the same livery as 25, 27 & 28 (PN livery but with IP logos in place of the PN logo & stars).

    Surprised 74 wasn't first given that one is very faded under the cab windows (can't even see the loco number).

    Interestingly today consist was split over Platforms 1 and 2, Locos and lead 16 carriages in Platform 2 ''departed" at 12:02pm then set back onto the remaining carriages in Platform 1.

    I say interesting because last sunday's consist was 32 carriages, but not split over the platforms.

    NR18 was stabled in Platform 3 (for this afternoons 1AP8 )

    8108 still filling in as the terminal shunter

    Will be interesting what it (109) ends up looking like. The Red Ghan logos won't suit the Blue and Yellow  PN livery at all, unlike the IP logos.
    Time will tell.

    And yes NR74 will require more than just a slap of paint, quite a lot of rust in some panels will need removing.

    Definitely a bit of rust around the windows, will be interesting to see what livery 109 comes out in.
