Pride Train to Shepparton - 15 & 16/11/2014

I'm amazed there's been no discussion about this special next weekend.

Are there so many closeted rail-fans that the mere mention of a pride train...a precursor to the proposed Mardi-Gras train next year dare not rate a mention lest one be seen as batting for the 'other team'.

Though I won't be going...I proudly bat for the other team and am more than happy in some insignificant way of publicising this event.!itinerary/czpx

I must say that I do not approve of a fine train being used for the promotion of fagottry. Even though I am a religious freak I would prefer a happy ending.

It's the first I've heard of it I must admit. As I am writing this, I am disappointed to see the use of a disparaging term from another poster,(not The Vinelander ) for whom I have always had respect.
The gay scene is not my bag, but if others like it and nobody is being hurt, I don't see a problem.
I wish the venture well, and I hope the participants enjoy the trip.

Who is operating this train ?

Surely no one would mind who booked the special. Gay or otherwise.

What is the intended motive power ?

After following the link provided I wasn't able to find what organisation was running the train, but there was reference to 'club car Moorobool' and 'Bar lounge 708' being involved, and a photograph of T356, suggesting to me it is either one or both of 707 Operations or Steamrail are involved in running the train.

As for the group that have chartered the train, good for them, I honestly can't understand why anybody still has an issue with what other people do in their own private lives.

Rodo, I first thought your statement wasn't even worth replying to, but I won't sit on the fence !

That was TOTALLY out of line and TOTALLY Out of order !

Religious freak, Pig $hit ! That type of remark went out of date a very long time ago.

Thanks gman.

Makes sense but I was looking or something definitive. I guess we will
Have to make do with clues.

Is there space in shepparton yard to stable the train for the day ?

I too would love a bit more detail on that front Freightgate. This seems to be the same case with most charters. Public info can be hard to find, unless you are in the know, which I unfortunately am not. An example earlier this year was Steamrail running a charter to Bell with a K class steamer (K190 I think), I didn't even know about it until the photos appeared online after the trip. Surely somebody on this forum can help us out with a bit more info you would think.

As for Shepparton, from memory there are a few spare roads in the yard. Sounds like they have organised something as the train is going to spend the most part of the weekend sitting around, so I assume there must be spare yard space.

As for Rodo's disgraceful comments, I think Big Shunter has spoken for most of us!

Here here, I'm very much with BigShunter here. The comments have hurt me particularly closely, and many a person's life has been ruined because of comments made such as Rodo's, and actions that are of which the logical conclusions of such comments. I'd rather not go into it, but I've known my fair share of people personally that've had their lives completely ruined by such homophobia, the fact that anyone on this board could hold such atrocious attitudes towards the homosexual community personally and utterly sickens me.

Utterly despicable Rodo, utterly despicable. You truly do not comprehend how very terrible you are being.

Always glad to see a good tour, in any case. Won't be attending myself, despite not particularly batting for any team Wink , but what the hey!

Rodo, The Pride Train is used to highlight discrimination that members of the LGBT community have to put up with daily, and judging by your incredibly insensitive comments, this is sorely needed. So Rodo, put a sock in it, we have enough Neo-Conservative idiots in Federal Parliament, peddling their intolerant BS to members of the public and we do not need this crap in Railpage, thank you very much.

Many people think homophobia / discrimination doesn't exist anymore

Unfortunately , as shown above , it does and often crops up as you are sailing along happily minding your own business

Thump ! Down you come

However , it is very heartening to read the reaction of other Forum members to the offensive post

so there you go- all you locomotive drivers out there

What someone does behind closed doors is entirely their own business.
As long as it is legal and consensual, who really cares?

As for the consist used, I think everyone is genuinely interested in what will be running.

[edit] As often thr case two wrongs really do not make a right. If someone has stirred yuor passion, better to report it than to flame the culprit, in yuor eyes. After 4+ posts we see the point, and I will not argue for either side here.

Thing is the thread is not positive for the charter, for the organisation earning money for this trip etc.

So locking this thread. If you wish to post photos of the trip and good stuff, a new thread is quite ok.

Update:  There is a new thread, now started by Bevans....
