Where am I Victoria? - Non Cryptic - #3

  duttonbay Minister for Railways

Not Bushy Park, the name of the station we seek does not belong with a "B". It is surrounded by those that do.

Marnoo.

Burrum, Banyena, Marnoo, Bolangum was the sequence, and Valvegear has nailed it.

It's over to him now...

Thanks duttonbay.

Along the same sort of theme:-

A station with a nine-letter name, with no letter appearing twice.
  RustyRick Chief Commissioner

Location: South West Vic
Claremont?

Rick

Location: Richmond Vic
Not Claremont.
  Boss Chief Commissioner

Location: Caulfield Line
Salisbury

Location: Richmond Vic
Salisbury doesn't fit - "s" appears twice.

Murchison?
  Boss Chief Commissioner

Location: Caulfield Line
Salisbury doesn't fit - "s" appears twice.
Valvegear

I obviously can't see, can't count.
  Valvegear Oliver Bullied, CME

Location: Richmond Vic
Not Salisbury, Claremont or Murchison.

I'm afraid it's just a "lucky guess" question - I'll leave it for a little longer before adding a clue.
  duttonbay Minister for Railways

I shall therefore guess Glenorchy
  Valvegear Oliver Bullied, CME

Location: Richmond Vic
And not Glenorchy either.

Think exploration.
  duttonbay Minister for Railways

I'm not very good with general knowledge hints - I sit down on Saturday and Sunday and try the big crosswords in the Age, which are general knowledge, and am always horrified by how little I know, or in may cases, how little I remember, because I know I once knew stuff...

So, ignoring your hint, I wll plod on. I have found Creighton fits the primary clue.
  Valvegear Oliver Bullied, CME

Location: Richmond Vic
Not Creighton.

I'll broaden the hint - think of an explorer. That should do it.
In fact, think of a Prussian explorer who went around northern Australia.

Only Prussian explorer that went round Northern Oz that springs to mind is Leichhardt - but he's got one letter too many, and AFAIK there's nowhere in Vic by that name - or is there? Confused
  Valvegear Oliver Bullied, CME

Location: Richmond Vic
Leichardt is correct. This is the way my 1940's VR map spells the name - located between Marong and Derby.

Over to wurx.

Ta Valvegear. I did have a sneaking suspicion that there was a Mexican Leich(h)ardt, but I would have said Melbourne rather than rural Victoria. The spelling also explains why my Glooglemap search came to naught...

Can't think of a puzzler, so open floor, y'all Very Happy

OK - nobody has had a go, so here's a quickie.

This place name contains every vowel.

This place name contains every vowel.

Moulamein?
  duttonbay Minister for Railways

Youanmite?  Every vowel including a bonus "y".
  Valvegear Oliver Bullied, CME

Location: Richmond Vic
Youanmite is the one I had in mind. Duttonbay got it, and Calgully, who put up a good one, missed out.
  duttonbay Minister for Railways

Thanks Valvegear. I reckon Calgully and I got the only two single-word stations with all five vowels, but when you include double word names list xxx East or xxx Junction the field opens up a little.

We are looking for a station at which the signal box(es) managed four different safeworking systems simultaneously (in the mid-1960s at least)
  Valvegear Oliver Bullied, CME

Location: Richmond Vic
A wild stab at Cressy.
  duttonbay Minister for Railways

Not Cressy.

Thanks for the reminder though. It's probably time for a hint.

Three of the safeworking systems controlled single lines, and the other was double track.  That should narrow things down quickly...
