    Not Belmont, whether you mean NSW, WA, Victoria or Queensland (not certain there was a railway at Belmont QLD.)

    To clarify (in case you didn't click the link supplied by Petan), said tramway was in reality a railway, but there were also trams to Belmont, although the terminus was not at the current location of Belmont, but at what is currently know as Carina.

    Not Wallsend either. This cutting has an active railway line a short distance away - less than 100m

    Not Cockle Creek.   Not only does this cutting has an active railway line a short distance away, it has an inactive/derelict line a similar distance in the other direction.

    Somehow it made me think of the region about the above places. Maybe Adelaide Hills, rocks look like limestone.

    Somehow it made me think of the region about the above places. Maybe Adelaide Hills, rocks look like limestone.

    Yes!!  This photo is of the cutting which led to the first railway crossing of the Murray (which is now the road bridge).  To the left is the line down to the wharf, which curved around and under the bridge, and to the right is the current mainline which crosses the river on the "new" bridge.

    Over to br30453 for the next photo...

    Doh - I did have a detailed look at Murray Bridge (East) in Google Maps, but couldn't figure it. Didn't look at the West side!!

    Nose that one, I do Very Happy - I often pass it when working the Endeavour to Bomaderry & back.

    UIVMM, we're looking at the buffer stops of the siding that used to serve Gerringong's Co-op building. Your pic shows some rails protruding from the grass just in front of the buffer, which I hadn't noticed before.

    Here's another view, showing the other tangible remnants of the siding, dating from 16/2/08:

    And for those who haven't seen it before, the nicely preserved Co-op building, which is used by various community groups today.

    I think it might have been Gwabegar's Down Home signal; it was the only one visible. This was in July 2012, and compared to the pix on Rolfeworld, which date from around a decade before, the whole yard area is very overgrown, which made it difficult to make out much more than bits & bobs of this & that, and precious few of those.
