    Agree, however I need to investigate why one of my BL's rear lights are not showing through the shell properly. You can see them on in the cab so I hope its just a loose lens. I will check when I fit a decoder later.

    I started to put a decoder into my BL and discovered all 4 screws under the bogies are burred.  This is the one with the loose lens.  Back to Mr E I think.  Why do they make it so hard to get jewellers screwdrivers in there?  Has anyone found an easy way to remove the shell?

    My wife notified me midweek that it was on the card account. She wasn't too happy as I got retrenched 8 weeks ago and am still not working. I ordered them at the Bendigo exhibition at Easter, so I was prepared for them.

    I spoke to JE last week asking about my order and he said the 81s were being air freighted out on Monday /or next Monday but it would take until late September to finish the mailout . He has 3 projects to mail out and the 81/BL/G is classed as one project .

    I spoke to him today and they have arrived and are awaiting collection from the custom's agent.

    They're flat out at the moment but hopefully they may start sending them out once they've cleared the other projects.

    Not long to wait now.

    Hi All,
    Got my PL cars yesterday and pretty happy with them. Not sure whether I will change the roof vents, but if that's all that is wrong with them, I am happy.
    Spoke to John on Tuesday and was told the 81 Class in Candy had arrived been inspected and failed. It appears that Austrains signed off on each model with each livery applied to the correct bodies, and the factory stuffed up once again.
    It appears that body changes between each livery were paid for and the factory have inserts that they need to change to properly represent each version, prior to moulding the bodies. The candy version has the wrong engine room doors (?) and does not properly represent any model (Combination of other changes?)
    So the factory has been contacted and arrangements have been made to rerun them.... However over 200 customers have been contacted and told of the error and offered a factory discount to sugar a deal, and almost every one have accepted the NQR Candy 81 (Including me After all it is going to be better than the Powrline ones, isn't it?) (You would have to worry that the proper run may now not be done? How many customers are going to be left for the correct version?)

    My own thoughts on Chinese Sanda Kan.
    SandaKan is the culprit again It appears they caused the trouble, after being taken over by Bachman. It seems that their Engineers all worked and got employed in Hong Kong. Bachman decided that Mainland Chinese were paid less and told their Hong Kong Engineers to shift, and they refused. New Engineers have got to learn the job...

    Then after CNY 2014, the SandaKan employees went on strike http://www.amrc.org.hk/node/1368
    Within 2 months the Army was moved in and every employee sitting in at the plant was physically removed by a reported 1000 Officers ??

    The Factories (multiple address' were all closed down and a new Factory was opened up about 10 KM away. Employees were not offered jobs (in general) and new employees are hard to find.

    The factory reportedly is in turmoil, still.
    Austrains are trapped to a certain extent by their dies (Suitable for use with Sandakan machines but not newer machines being used by other factories. Other factories have no room for new customers or unable to do the job.

    No wonder JE wants to sell Smile I think its only with many years of experience that JE has learned how to handle the last 5 or 6 years, and a lesser man might have given up and walked, a long time ago. Although constant delays and errors could turn one against Austrains, I really believe they need a few positive comments for doing as well as they have for so long.

    Hopefully plenty of customers if alternative road numbers are offered in the rerun from those of the NQR Candy 81's.

    The madness in all of this is several fold, SDK had a good working relationship with their workers for years, one of those that offered extra incentives to return to the factory following CNR, they knew the problems with losing skilled factory assemblers in the fine work they did & it paid off. The relationship remained after Bachmann China aka Kadah industries for a couple of years even when they turfed many international clients, they wanted primarily to produce their own brand models sold to Europe & to the U.S also model railways was becoming quite popular in China for the new wealthy middle class, but they wanted CNR models, as did a burgeoning bread of western modellers who were caught in the steam age of the big QJ's.

    Losing the big paying clients did not help their bottom line either, & the 2 Oz clients remaining, Austrains & Eureka had moved out with their primary models as a result of being told to look elsewhere, but the two were stuck with tooling that could not be transferred to other factories without a large amount of alterations to them, this was principally in loco's.  The reason why the huge delays to the 40c as its still stuck at SDK, & the TOR 48c which has had to have major work completed to be produced with their new factory.

    Seems that they are progressively getting worse in the overall relationships with their workers, its also possible that new Government laws regarding wages & standard rises have had an affect on them as well, meaning the old incentives have had to be removed, possibly this is a part of what happened & found out by them when they returned after the New Year National holiday.  The aspect that their senior staff & likely those that the company rely having to accept the low wages paid to work in China would have had a severe affect on them & their families owing to living in HK, which the only thing that is not cheap is housing, a reason that HK couples often cannot afford to have children owing to rent, thankfully everything else can be sourced very cheap.

    I doubt if we have seen the last western casualty of what has happened to SDK, the problems also were there when the U.S bankers owned SDK prior to Kadah

    The newsletter said that the 81 will be rerun in candy with corrected tooling, just no mention of correcting the paint scheme problems.
