I am planning to take a trip to the riverland in the next few weeks, does anyone know what days/times grain trains on the Pinnaroo and Tookayerta lines have been running lately?
There will be a Pinnaroo train running tomorrow unsure of time. 22 and 2 Gm's ran out to Loxton yesterdayLoxton Saturday night, Pinnaroo Monday night.
dam sorry about that, you know if there will be anouther loxton tomorow? tuesdays been pretty regular lately. From what i gather its been a pretty average season dont know how much grain is a both sites i havent worked for Vitera for a couple of years now (sa potato now)
nope straight down the freeway behind a kenworth. the branches are both grain only seasonal traffic unless mindarie returns to rail
Are you referring to Mindarie the location?Yes, Mindarie is the location of a Heavy Mineral Sands Mine which is currently mothballed.
8.2.2 Mineral SandsThe mine seems to be open - the study was published November 2014. Doesn't seem to be any news about the mine being mothballed since then.
Mindarie is located on the rail line near Halidon. The mines stockpile is designed to load two
trains weekly of between 40 and 50 containers per train (Appendix 8) directly onto the mainline
onto trains operated by GWA. This was occurring until 2011 before the mine went into
The new owners Murray Zircon, determined that the GWA rail freight was not viable compared to
the lower capital cost road alternative and use Qube Logistics to road freight seven to ten B
Double tippers each day (Appendix 8) the three hours and 200km to Inner Harbour at Port
Adelaide. Qube Logistics designed a tipper truck and trailer capable of carrying 44t net payload
and operate a terminal on the eastern side of Murray Bridge to service Mindarie. Qube Logistics
have secured 68t gross mass permits to travel to Adelaide on the South Eastern freeway.
Murray Zircon maintains that the road option provides a lower cost, safer and faster solution
compared to the rail that took ten hours from Halidon to Tailem Bend and another day to
