  Main North Junior Train Controller

Location: Somewhere on the old Main North
Two more photos from the former far Main North, NSW.

This image shows Bolivia Bank between (Deepwater and Tenterfield) where the line winds down the hill in an "S" bend on a 1 in 40 grade to the valley below and Bolivia Station. It was quite a good view for passengers.
Hard to believe that for over 40 years this was the main line between Sydney and Brisbane.
This image was taken on 11th October 1998, nine years after the last train ran.
I believe that for intending passengers waiting at Bolivia station for a northbound train, the approaching train would have been visible in the far distance coming down the hill some time before arriving at the station.

Taken on 13th August 1989, three months after the line closed to Wallan-Garra, this is the up home and distant signal at Tenterfield.
It's an unusual signal for this part of the state in that the home and distant arms are on the same post. The distant is for the second home signal located in Tenterfield yard, part of which is visible beneath the road overbridge.
It was obviously a very old signal as both arms were wooden. Unfortunately it was destroyed some years ago.
