Jumbos are still hanging on

Just for the record, as of late March a handful of Jumbos is still soldiering on in peak-hour service on the Gawler line.

Recent regular workings seem to be.....

0650 Gawler Central - Adelaide (3-car)
0715  Gawler Central - Adelaide (4-car)
0730  Gawler Central - Adelaide (4-car)
plus the 0603 Adelaide - Gawler - Gawler Central all-stations (forms the 0650 Adelaide)

1608 Adelaide - Gawler Central (3-car)
1720 Adelaide - Gawler Central (4-car)
1735 Adelaide - Gawler Central (4-car)
1838 Adelaide - Gawler Central (3-car)

1717 Gawler Central - Adelaide (3-car)
1812 Gawler Central - Adelaide (4-car)

The 3-car set has been 2101/ 2001 / 2103.
4-car sets:  2117 / 2012 / 2106 / 2003
and:   2109 / 2010 / 2006 / 2112
2101 and 2012 are the ones still in STA orange.

The 1608 was not worked by a jumbo today, much to my disappointment.

I think the second 4 car set is 2109/2010/2106/2012 isn't it?

Yes, there is a typo in my first post.
My notes actually say second set is:
2109 / 2010 / 2006 / 2112

Early in February there was a second 3-car set active, 2105/2011/2106.  However it's evident that by the end of February, 2106 had been incorporated into one of the 4-cars, displacing 2116.

Is it the case the two 4-car sets are normally stabled at Gawler overnight, whereas the 3-car stays at Dry Creek overnight and during the day?

It seems it's one 4-car and one 3-car sets stabling overnight at Gawler and going to Dry Creek between morning & afternoon peaks.
This has been general rule during March, but is not dead-set certain every single weekday, sometimes a 3-car 3000-class has substituted.

The other 4-car set does:-
Dry Creek to Adelaide empty 0530-ish
0603 Adelaide - Gawler (all stops!), then 0702 Gawler - Gawler Central.
0715 Gawler Central - Adelaide limited stops.
Stables in North Yard at Adelaide Station during the day.
1720 Adelaide - Gawler Central limited stops.
1812 Gawler Central - Adelaide all stops (arrives 1925)
Empty to Dry Creek

I think the Jumbo sets are being re-formed more frequently now than they ever were prior to Noarlunga line shut-down.

I bet that driver I mentioned in that topic I posted would be able to do GC - Adelaide in 56 mins in a 4 car jumbo set.

And just to confuse things further the 0642hrs to Outer Harbor was once more a jumbo today.

Is the 3-car set 2101/2001/2103 still in service?  The 1608 ex-A was 3xxx's today?

Well with platforms 6-9 closed for the long weekend that would only leave platform 5 for jumbos.  Maybe they left platform 5 open so they can use jumbos for the Port game on Sat.

Thanks, Bingley. I hadn't seen the 3-car recently.
