They were pretty much guaranteed not to be in service over 12 months ago.... I saw the pick a part photos inside to confirm it.

Bump. Just wondering if anyone knows whether the 21 carriages announced today will all be standalone carriages, or coupled into 3-car sets?

I was going to ask the same thing. All the press release says is that they're VLocity carriages, nothing about whether they are ordering another 7 Vlocity sets, or adding 21 carriages to 21 existing sets. I always find their reporting about these things to be not as precise as they could be

Car set N 18 is back in traffic ex collision repairs Bendigo SSR brought back last Saturday from Bendigo by N 456?

Car BZN 252 back in service ex G exam, not repainted.

Car BH 141 retrieved from Newport Workshops storage last night ,  by N 460 to Dynon shops for door replacement , then to be trialled in service with modified doors , prior to fleet retrofit.

SG set SN 16 is under G exam Gemco.

SG Sets SN 1 & 15 running with altered consists due to maintainence, with overnight exams at Dynon taking place and cars removed for heavy repairs.

BN 2 removed from SN1 for wheel change , yet to re enter set.
BN 10 removed from SN. 15 , for 2 days then re inserted and BDN 21 removed.  (Both toilet tank changes - mods    - repairs)

Likely another set will be placed on SG , cars  ACN 24 & BRN 34 and BN cars ex existing  SG sets, removed with a BN being converted to BDN plus a PH van., to make up 4th set. The sets will then be 4 cars with one spare BN car.

An additional N class will go on SG as well, likely to keep A 66 in service.

A60 , 62 & 70 now heavily stripped , will not return to service.

Sets N 13, N 18 & N 12 under exam,  as well as BZN 256 & BZN 272

Gee, it sounds like a lot of N cars are having work done at the moment, is this causing the N car shortage to worsen?

Is it possible that VLine is using a surplus of Vlocities at the moment before RRL opens next month to get some maintenance done? Someone on here had reported that a Baccus Marsh Service was run by a Vlo rather than the usual consist. Could be related?

3 VL 59 in testing,  VL 00 back to factory to have trailer inserted (1300) and will emerge as 3 VL 00.

VL 05 almost ready ex collision repairs at SSR Bendigo ,  will go straight to  the factory for trailer insertion then VL 12 shortly after, then a conditional program commencing at VL 01

Another car set to go on SG - ACN 24 - BRN 34 first cars to be upgraded, with others to come from existing SG sets, giving 1 x 5 car set, and 3 x 4 car sets.

Power van for new SG  set being sourced.

Loco N 458 likely to be the extra loco on SG.

N 451 CCO overhaul test run 19/6

A66 not  part of new timetable - however shortage of N class may see it survive. Other 3 A class 60,62 and 70 - though stripped could be re activated,  if required.

N class ICE radio fit out complete,  last loco fitted N468 , next fitouts being done on VL 00,  then onto broad gauge P class locos.

Thanks for the update SN7, interesting as always!

Do you know if sets are being re-painted/new vinyl applied when they receive their trailer cars?

I'd assume so given some of the sets are now 11 years old and getting to look a bit tatty with faded purple!

@vlinecars I would expect so given the re-branding.

So, does that mean A60's last trip will be somewhere in Brooklyn? Apparently its former guise as B60 has no historical significance to neither the government nor V/Line...

Eventually, although I would suspect that rather than repaint them, they would just get a vinyl wrap job, like they do with trams. It's cheaper and quicker than a full repaint. The first purple and green ones to get the new livery will be the 2 car units, as they get their new intermediate cars. The others might have to wait a while.

On the subject of the sticker job "repaints": The decals on the Original V/line colours for the V/locitys held up better than the rest of the paint/plastic.

3VL00 was testing today after the addition of the 1300 series trailer to the 2VL00 set. Also was decaled into PTV. I presume VL05 is the next one to get the 1300, followed by maybe VL12?
