I saw a Tangara at Cabramatta this morning at 8am. Is that normal?

I am sure it's normal mate, I have seen heaps of Tangara's on the south line before, even while the HSets we're being built

There are no Tangara sets rostered on the South Line (Sector 2).

Therefore:-
1/ it may have been the "Standby" 8T set (Roster 1123), that normally sits in Eveleigh Yard from 0430 hours, replacing a set (type C, K, M, or A) that failed earlier in the morning.
2/ it may have be an 8T set that was worked Empty, from either Hornsby or Mortdale MC, to replace a failed set.
3/ there have been a number of T sets from Sector 1 stabling overnight in Sydney Yard, so one of those sets may have been allocated to a Sector 2 Roster in place of a C, K, M or A set.

The Sydney Trains website shows that Tangaras operate on all suburban lines, which is quite untrue:?!  Also, the Tangara was a passenger service which stopped at Cabramatta on Platform 2. I haven't seen a Tangara at Cabramatta for at least 3 years. I'm sick and tired of seeing S,K,C,M and A sets. C sets always seem to service T2 on the morning peak:x. I really hope one day they will take some of the C Sets or M sets and put a few Tangaras!

I'm assuming this - given I crossed it that morning at Strathfield; running passenger on P8.

Really, s_setfan - I wouldn't get tied up over what runs what. I have a bit of fun guessing what runs 187 every day as it is never what it's tabled to be (8A); but I don't see a point in posting here as, really, most of us simply don't care.

It clearly IS true as Tangara trains can AND DO operate on any suburban line in Sydney. Just because they don't do it on a daily basis doesn't mean it's worth getting your knickers in a knot...

Sorry, I am just a noob and I haven't seen many Tangaras over the past 2-3 years running the South line. I do however have many memories on travelling on a Tangara through the South line

You're more than welcome to "be new at this" and to hand around and absorb information - that's the best way to learn. Perhaps read and observe rather than pointing out things that are "wrong" when they're not.

Like Raichase said; it's one thing to be a n00b, it's another to claim something is incorrect when it isn't.

Operational requirements can be funny... An irregularity can be interesting, doesn't make the information incorrect Smile

Further to the posting in this thread, I understand the digital train radio test train (one of them) has been doing runs along the Bankstown Line recently during the mid-day off peak period - this is an 8-car Tangara.

I believe in the most recent timetable change, one of the changes was that the T set is no longer rostered to regularly do runs on all of Sector 2 (Bankstown, South, Inner West, East Hills).

Another change I believe is that some K sets are rostered for service on Sector 2, where previously they were exclusively used by Sector 1. I do not know if all K sets moved across.

I also believe that some C sets are rostered for service on Sector 1, where previously they were used exclusively by Sector 2. I'm a bit less confident of this one though.

There were no K Sets or C sets on Sector 1 for as long as I can remember. It was either an  S (final service 2013) or T and now exclusively Ts. I believe most K Sets are on Sector 2 (some in sector 3) along with C Sets (Sector 2 only) with T Sets on Sector 1 (some on Sector 3).

Haven't seen it in a while on my daily travels so I assumed it wasn't there anymore. I'm sure actual railway workers will know this information. The information I provided is off Wikipedia (I know its not a reliable source but it will do) and through the eyes of me or my friends.

Chidda Bang - as someone who lives on the main west I can assure you Tangaras and K Sets run all day on the T1 line and 4 car K Sets all day on T5 (Cumberland).

fixitguy - I apologise, I thought you were a rail worker Smile - didn't mean to come across as calling you a liar or anything.
