Here is a manufacturer in Echuca wishing to use rail but frustrated.  All expensive road transport.  Who do they contact if they wish to use rail?

I thought one would begin here: http://www.vline.com.au/about/networkaccess/application.html

And if there is no action, then I suppose contact the local state member Peter Walsh, and also transport minister Jacinta Allen.

The article states roll on and roll off.  What is he getting at here?

They are correct in there is not an intermodal terminal at Echuca but a small one like that Mooroopna could easily be built assuming the manufacturing facility is adjacent to the rail network.

The factory is about 100 metres from the Toolamba line.  Denmark Rd is between the factory and the line.

Looking at the map (thanks for the info) a siding into the site would not be a big deal at all.  Government grant and land next to the site on the right hand side.  Easy done.

The truck drives on the train at a set location, the train then completes a journey of some distance (say 150+km) then at another set location the truck drives off, used quite successfully in the alpine regions of Europe.

Another name is a Rolling Highway

Thanks @speedemon08

This should be considered for other routes and also those routes from Mildura and central and western NSW.  Not sure how this would be used for Echuca but it makes sense as their product would mainly be export I would assume?

Throughout Germany and surrounding Countries, Its very common to see rolling highways, with 3 axel truck trailers loaded onto well wagons (that have a dummy turntable to secure the trailer during transit)
The well wagons can also be used for containers.

(European 3 axel truck trailers are of a different design to Australian)
