Hitachi spotting

I saw two there today.

Ooh, did one escape unnoticed?
Fairly sure when I went past yesterday there were the same three that's been there for ages...

Iseen the 2 from the rail crossing so could be a 3rd tucked away still , also all Hitachi spare parts have been disposed off so yep they are gone this time round

would they really be getting rid of parts when its said that theres a set overview happening where the healthiest one is kept and the others stripped of parts to keep that set going for future runs and the stripped ones are then deposed of? I really doubt they would dipose spare parts because that's just criminal behaviour

Wandered by the Macaulay yard this afternoon and like in Google Streetview, they're still there and appear to be intact, though I estimate that it's six and half sets in those three sidings though there could be more as the nine car long train stored by the fence (#7 road?) makes it difficult to see what's on the other side. 282M's (#6 road?) destro is set to General Motors, 285M and a carriage of what's in #5 road has a passenger door open. 1997T was very dust covered.

Just went past Macaulay yard on the train, noticed that the set closest to the shed had the North Melbourne end running lights on

I hope they are not think of returning them to Melbourne Metro Service. Melbourne deserves state for the art Modern Trains. A good use for them would be to completely gut them and re-manufacture as New Zealand has done for the old British Rail Mark 2 Carriages. Then sling a diesel engine underneath them and they can be used for the Albury, Warrnambool, Swan Hill and Bairnsdale routes.

Ok.... I was told that it was moving on Saturday but was cancelled

I've spent the last few days trying to work out if one has moved or not. Were the three tracks beside the shed occupied, or just two?

Three.

Three.

That's what I'd thought, but the last few times I only saw two. Last night there were definitely three though so I'll put it down to temporary insanity.

282M has white marker lights at the Macauley end on, and there's a bloke at the gate with a camera. Anything scheduled?

If anyone watched the footy show tonight, would you give a rose to a hitachi? Or would the rose be placed on its grave?

There will be a Hitachi transfer from McCauley Sidings to Newport this Saturday. Approximate departure time from McCauley is 8am.

Be interesting to see if they can actually get any pressure up after all this time, all the seals could have dried up and any valves be stuck open/closed.

When did they last move under their own power?

This is what I've come up with after looking through the current thread.
I'm not prepared to go through the original one to get further information.

282M----295M's last reported run was probably in 2011, it may have been at Macaulay ever since.
278M----285M's last reported run was 23 May 2013, it's probably been at Macaulay since then.
294M----299M moved from Craigieburn to Macaulay early in 2014.
273M----288M moved from Craigieburn on 19 July 2014, but I think it ended up at Newport.
284M----292M derailed at Croydon on 3 January 2013 and went to Newport soon after that.
290M----298M's last reported run was 16 September 2011, it's been at Newport since then.
275M----279M's last reported run was 6 July 2013.

2011 was the last time 282M--295M ran in service, however it was actually at Newport between 2011 and late 2013, then it moved to Macaulay under its own power

GONE!

All of them, or just one set?

It might be all of them, going by that word. Odd that no one was watching them go. Is it certain they've ended up at Newport or have they gone somewhere else?

I vaguely wanted to watch the movement occur, but I'd other things I had to do on Saturday.

only one set gone when i passed late saturday afternoon

The  middle unit was gone with the other units still there.
Will see if another set is going next Saturday because I might follow it out to Newport on my way to geelong.

The Hitachi at the Garden platform must be 282M....295M.
I was a little bit surprised that it wasn't stabled with the other four in the east yard.

279M....275M and 278M....285M (closest to the creek) are still at Macaulay.
