I have both Fords and Holdens in my name, so have a foot in each camp.

But after rummaging around in my tax files for a few days, I found my original invoice for my XPT order, and it turns out that I did indeed order what showed up in the box.
This, however, leads me to mentally ask myself the question of "Why the smeg did I order that?!"

With the price rise it certainly is a timely reminder to get orders in for the 48's which are looking to be even more of a bargain now at $220.

Also if you do a check around the shops, most of the models are now coming in without speakers & the like, you only get speakers if you get sound.

I thinnk what you are seeing on the price lists for the 43cl shows up the next round of loco prices, more especially those for 2016 the after delivery price less $50,00 for EB will likely be the best scenario.

Just my opinion of course, but I'm sure that I'm not alone. In this scenario +$85 would push the 43 into the realm of not interested

Unfortunate as they are these sort of price rises are not really that big a surprise.

Manufacturers have been warning about the costs of material and labour going up in China, add a 20% or more drop in the $AUD against the $USD in the last 12 months and you start to realise we have been very lucky prices held until now.

SRM L class is $375.00 and Trainorama 48 $325.00 so Auscision are not the first to raise prices but you watch the rest follow now Auscision have raised their after delivery prices.

As others have mentioned pre order prices are still a bargain especially 48 at $220.00 but i wonder how much longer that price will last.

Everything we buy in life goes up in price all the time for example when was the last time your Insurance premiums were lower compared to the previous year ? Why do we expect discretionary items like model trains to be immune from price rises after all they are just another low volume imported manufactured item. High volume Importers of manufactured goods like Harvey Norman have been saying for over 12 months now to buy up as imported goods prices are bound to go up.

I don't know about having to give warning about price rises on after delivery if I don't pre order that's the risk I take. I note that 43 Order form states that "Model details & delivery dates subject to change without notice" just about covers that doesn't it ? If you pre order you have a contract with them for a set price for the goods but if you wait until the model arrives having not put any money down then no obligation on their part to guarantee a set after delivery price.

It's a reality that was always coming, and credit to Auscision for absorbing price increases for as long as they did. Loco prices have been $295 since August 2009 when the A Class was delivered, so that's a good 6 years worth of locos that they've maintained the prices. And how much have costs gone up since then?

And I agree with the rises affecting he casual purchaser. I was vaguely interested in a 43 class however it's not on my list of wants now.

Auscision as well as all the others have a cut of date for the prices quoted on their order forms & advertising they are the discounted EB price, in this case 43cl $250.00 including Shipping,   The next price in this case $295.00 is the deposited price, it only reserves the buyer the model number & livery, as a guarantee, it does not guarantee the end price will remain the same.

That has been their policy for some time.

The answers on FB only said the $250 pre-delivery price ends on 22/10/2015. This was as late as 11/10/2015 so they would have known what the after delivery price would have been by then. If they'd mentioned that the after delivery price was to go up they would have had a whole lot more orders I'm sure.

The Auscision order page has in red the following

Deposit of $100.00 per Loco, reserves the models of your choice at the price of $295.00 ea.

Nothing mentioned about what the price is once the cut off date is reached for orders posted/arrived after the notified date, which Auscision makes on their web, blog & FB page. They give sufficient notice for people to know the end date of the early prices, for modellers to place orders in time, after which they have the right to put whatever price they want on them. This is the first time they have gone above the $295.00 price for models post the closing dates.

Regardless of the basis or justification, it is done. Those potentially in the market for a 43 at $335 had no prior contract or agreement in place with Auscision so it's a case of you snooze - you lose

While the producer does have excellent communication, Paul is correct - they surely would've made more pre-sales if the final price was advertised prior, I alone know that I would've ordered a second loco. In the not too distant future $250 will be considered exceptional value for items of such quality

Just noticed that $335 is the full "after delivery" price of the SDS 81 Class as well, with $275 as the pre-order price.

Hopefully this will become the norm, $275 still an attractive price for those that can (and want to) pre-order, especially when it comes with a non-sound DCC decoder as standard.

They advertised the after delivery price of $295, then they are required to sell them at THAT price of $295. It is a contract, and that "contract" states what the after-delivery price (note) WILL be.

An order form is an offer of contract and nothing more, there is no contract until you enter into one by responding to the offer in the manner specified (eg making payment as noted in the offer) AND that response being accepted by the entity doing the offering.  The order form offering $295 locos was recently withdrawn and replaced by a new offer of contract to purchase the loco for $335, if a person had not pursued the old offer before it was revoked then they have no grounds to complain or seek restitution for the higher pricepoint now in place.

There are many valid reasons for an entity to not accept a response to their most current offer, a common one being the item has sold out. Other reasons could include a genuine error in the advertising (eg accidently noted by omission of a digit as price "$29.00" or "$95.00" instead of "$295.00".  There are many more valid reasons, I suggest you familiarise yourself with Australian Consumer Laws, the Trade Practices Act, and contract law before getting too excited about something you had no intention of buying in the first place.
